I've used the company products for a number of years and though they describe it as a contact management system or a MS Outlook work alike, it does far more than Outlook. It is closer to the now withdrawn Outlook for Business (or whatever it was called) but, without the complexity of setup.
The formats are propiotary as to items such as e-mail, contacts, etc. so hacking is not an issues we've had in years and probably will never have as the market share is so small. The e-mail filters when used and populated with time become very strong. For instance my Yahoo account can have 50 spam messages per day. Opening the account in the !ntellect progra (Time and Chaos combined with their e-mail program) and up to 49 are easily identified as spam and placed accordingly or not even downloaded.
The program integrates with MS Word and there is even a custom word processor program that was in development and at the last moment was stopped but can be downloaded. It also works with Jarte, a great little word processor for those who dislike expensive programs or bloated apps.
The project manager is great for tracking jobs, processes, sales leads, just about anything where there are deadlines. There also is a great journal system an ability to mate files, e-mails and other information to a client so you can open a client and everything about him is there in one place.
There are a number of addons such as phone sync but, my favorite is the Legal Billing module. It is a quite complete time and billing system that ties to the contacts so no duplicate entries. You can enter a lot of detail in the description area (never ran out of room) so recording phone notes, etc are eas and it is all in one place. Multiple hourly rates based on work descriptions, multiple tax records for several or multiple taxes. The WIP printout has been before judges that have to assess reasonable fees and as long as the attorney, etc. did their job in recording into the system, the judges in my experience have accepted the wips printouts. The system will also use the wip as a detailed invoice or statement or you can reformat in summary. Though titles as a legal billing system, I used it in both my law practice and tax consulting business. Most clients really liked the detail as it showed and noting was hidden. It also allows for billing of expenses and receipts of payments either at the statement level or by invoice. To get the same in Outlook, again it was available in the now withdrawn business version and the related MS accounting program that mated with it. But, with the MS products esily got out of sync and many times required multiple entries to work tother where it is not the case with !ntellect and the billing program.
The shortcoming of the program, it it is one is that it is so flexible, it takes some planning to determine how to be use it in a business. You structure it to do what you want and not the other way around.
